Advanced Engineering & Robotics

Design, build and compete — students solve real engineering problems with machines they make themselves.

Parents and guardians can sign students up online.

EXPOSE. EXPERIENCE. EMPLOYMENT.
Why It Matters

Engineering you can touch.

Every experience challenges students to think critically, solve problems and create solutions for the future.

These are the same skills employers in advanced manufacturing, aviation and semiconductors are hiring for.

What Students Do

Inside the program.

Introduction to FRC Robotics

This course is designed to introduce students to the world of FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), where teams of high school students, mentors, and coaches work together to build game-playing robots. Students will learn the fundamentals of robotics, teamwork, and the engineering design process. The course emphasizes practical, hands-on experience in designing, building, and programming robots for FRC competitions.

  • Understand the fundamentals of robotics and the engineering design process.
  • Learn about the structure and rules of the FIRST Robotics Competition.
  • Develop skills in mechanical design, electrical systems, and programming.
  • Gain experience in teamwork, project management, and problem-solving.

Electrathon Vehicle Design and Racing

This course introduces students to the exciting world of Electrathon vehicle design and racing. Electrathon is a competitive event where teams design, build, and race lightweight, electric-powered vehicles. The course covers the principles of electric vehicle technology, aerodynamics, materials science, and engineering design, providing students with hands-on experience in constructing and optimizing an Electrathon vehicle for competition.

  • Understand the fundamentals of electric vehicle technology.
  • Learn about the design and construction of lightweight, efficient vehicles.
  • Develop skills in aerodynamics, materials selection, and engineering design.
  • Gain practical experience in building and testing Electrathon vehicles.

Introduction to Drone Technology and FPV Flying

This course introduces young learners to the exciting world of drones and FPV (First-Person View) flying. It aims to spark interest in technology through hands-on activities and theoretical knowledge. Students will learn about drone components, flight principles, safety, and regulations while engaging in fun activities like FPV drone soccer.

  • Understand the basic principles of drone flight and aerodynamics.
  • Learn about drone systems, components, and their functions.
  • Gain knowledge of drone safety and regulations.
  • Develop skills in FPV flying and drone navigation.
What Comes Next

Every program leads somewhere.

Students who stay with STEMCAT move into advanced youth programs and, when they are ready, our adult workforce pathways.
